Default X-Type Rear Door (behind UK RHD driver) Not Unlocking With Remote Control

2005 UK RHD Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 Sport Premium Estate Petrol Manual (now imported into Spain with Spanish registration).

Two issues with door locks that may be co-incidental or linked in some way.
  1. Rear passenger door behind the UK RHD driver failing to unlock every time when using the remote control but unlocks OK when using the internal door lock handle. All three other doors unlock normally when using the remote control.
  2. Front driver´s door on the UK RHD side fails to unlock occasionally and only unlocks when the engine is turned off, the key removed and the car doors unlocked with the remote control from inside the car.
Does anyone know how to resolve Issue 1, which I need to sort out before the next Spanish ITV (MOT) Test?

Chris, 1 of 2 things can be causing the rear door not to operate properly. The first question I have is whether the car honks at you when you go to lock it. If so, the car may not be seeing the door closed and therefore will not lock the door. This may also be obvious from the dome light remaining on if you have it turned on. If the horn is not honking and your dome light is going on/off like it should, then it is most likely your solenoid for the lock that will need to be replaced. Not a hard job, but you are working inside the door panel.

Hi Chris,t he symptoms all point to defective microswitches. This was almost always the case with our Jag's. Only once did we have a broken closing mechanism. The repair is somewhat difficult
