What type, size, make, shock absorbers does a 2007 2,0 A/t Jaguar X type use? Who are the best, most affordable suppliers in South Africa, Western Cape?

Pierre, the factory shocks are made by Bilstien. SO, if you do some looking, you will find the part numbers for the shocks. Not to make things more confusing, but Bilstien offers 3 variations for the shocks on our cars. All 3 will work. It is a matter of how stiff you want the ride based on your need for cornering. Bilstien offers the Standard, Sport, and Heavy Duty shocks. The car came originally with either the Standard (non-sport version) or the Sport (Sport edition). But, the Heavy Duty shocks will fit either version and are even more stiff than the sport edition shocks and will minimize the amount of body roll you will experience. Your local auto parts store should be able to order the shocks for you. You can also look on the internet and see who may be willing to ship the shocks to you.

Pierre, I know Australia is different, but I saved about 30% on local prices by shipping from the US supplier eshocks.com. They were recommended by a number of posters on this forum.

Same here. Not sure about shipping cost for you from this USA supplier, but price was lowest I found. Plus, customer service was great. I actually spoke with owner on phone when ordering.

Hi Pierre. Have you manage to order shocks yet? I am also in SA and the dealers quote me R3700 for the rear shock. I am also looking for alternitives. I struggle to get other suppliers for Jaguar since the Part no. is not quoted in the books.

I have an early 2001 2.5 x type SE with comfort suspension. I just replaced the springs with standard comfort ones & the handling is vastly improved, but I'd like to go for new shocks also. I'd like a sharper ride with less body roll - can I use sport shocks with the standard comfort springs I just bought? Will they fit ok? I did read somewhere this can screw things up - I also don't want to give my mechanic a massive headache trying to fit them! I also believe there are differences with the early 2001 x types - can anyone enlighten me please?

lc3566, instead of going with the sport shocks (slightly shorter than your comfort shocks), you can go with the heavy duty Bilstiens. They will be the same as your current shocks, just with the Sport valving.

As for the shocks being different for the early cars, I am not aware of any uniqueness to the shocks. So, any shock that you can find for the X-Type will work.

Thanks for that, having a little trouble finding HD Bilstiens at a reasonable price here in the Uk & for some reason they are listed as for x-types 02 or 03 onwards which is why I thought there may be a difference. So would the Bilstein HD be the B6 in the catalog? Also does anyone have experience with KYB Exel-G or Monroe Reflex shocks? Both are cheaper than the Bilsteins, my springs are KYB and they're good, also a perfect fit.

Are AWD and FWD models shock absorbers interchangeable?
There are for example C2S46576 rear absorbers that match both versions, but this is not the case for some other part numbers like C2S13946.
