Are the sway bars the same size for the 2.5L vs. the 3L? Were there any differences between the model years? Can I buy a front sway bar off an '08 2.5L FWD and bolt it up to my '04 3L AWD? I need to know of ANY differences if anybody knows. Thanks!

chknhwk, looking online at a dealerships parts list, the X-Type has the same swaybar on the front and rear of all model year cars (2001.5-2008) and also between the standard X-Type, Estate, and Sport models. This also includes all engine types. They did not mention anything about "only applicable to.....".

So, if you need to replace your sway bars, any X-Type should work for you.

What are the Jaguar part numbers front and rear? Is there any way to cross-reference these part numbers to see if they are the same parts as any other brands owned by Ford at the time?

That could be a way to help find out if aftermarket sway bars for another car might work on the X-Type.

 

Has anyone ever contacted Bonspeed to see what they did for sway bar upgrades to their SEMA show car? I know its possible so much was done that that maybe the Hotchkis bars they used were custom, but hey maybe not?
