Default X-type Trailer hitch

I was thinking about adding a class 1 1-1/4: receiver trailer hitch to my X-type so I can use one of my hitch based bicycle racks. I did a forum search and found only a couple of threads.about trailer hitches.

The only one I see is a Curt C11339 and I don't like how it has to be mounted on the X-type. (I don't want to drill holes through the sheet meta in the trunk areal)

Has anyone put on one if these?
Is there a different brand available with a different way of mounting?

(I'll continue to use rail racks on top of the car, but a rear hitch mount is easier to load and unload in the long run.)

I have a brand new one sitting in the garage. The quality looks to be pretty good, and the installation looks pretty straight forward in the video

.

I also purchased a
CURT 59236 Weather-Resistant Multi-Function Splice-in Trailer Tail Light Converter Kit CURT 59236 Weather-Resistant Multi-Function Splice-in Trailer Tail Light Converter Kit
to avoid any risk of damaging the vehicles lighting circuits.

Like you; I'm not overly enthusiastic about drilling holes in one of my X-Types, though with a bit of effort the installation can be done cleanly and doesn't look "too" terrible (The wife had a FIT when I mentioned installing it on hers.. I even suggested we could find a Leaper or Growler cover for it.. She still didn't go for it).

As I only plan to use it on occasion for pulling a small U-Haul trailer, I might source rubber plugs to seal the holes to facilitate removing the whole thing when not needed.

I watched the video. I should write them about their installation process. Their application of a sealant is a joke! Only small circles of sealant on the inside of the trunk. They left the holes they drilled completely unprotected! Then they sandwich the hitch mounting plates directly to the bottom of the trunk pan without any other sealant!. Perfect situation for mag-chloride and salts in liquid form to seep between the hitch mounting plates and the holes they drilled. If you had a shop install the hitch this way, then you the customer, would never know that you have a bunch of holes that will start rusting after your first winter.

In my application, I won't pull a trailer so don't need a wiring kit, I have my big van for pulling trailers. All I want the hitch for is a bike rack. At approx. $250, not sure it is worth it.
Seems that on E-trailer most of the trailer hitches are priced at $100+ to $175. Looks like they have jacked up the X-type's price by $50 to $75, because they probably don't sell many of them.

As I've done in the past with other cars I've owned, I may find a similar or used hitch and weld up my own mounts to fit the car the way I believe it should be mounted.
