Trailer hitch on an f-type?
I know, it sounds like sacrilege, but I'm a cyclist, this will be my only car. does anyone know if a trailer hitch is available for the F-type? to enable me to put a bike rack on the back.
What do you care? It's his car. Maybe he lives somewhere where parking is $600/month and it doesn't make sense to have two cars, or his driveway won't allow it. While not something I would do to my car, this type of unhelpful response serves no purpose.
BTW - nothing wrong with the idea of a bike on an F-type. My good friend carries his mountain bike on top of his 2013 Carrera all the time.
Don't really want a second vehicle but in the long run I'll probably just keep the fiat abarth I recently bought as bike hauler as I haven't owned a car in years (my wife has a prius but she'd been increasingly giving the stinkeye because I was always using her car to haul a bike around!). I've been using motorcycles as my main transport for years.
Pretty sure it would be cost prohibitive to have someone manufacture a hitch for a V6 due to the center mounted exhaust ports. A V8 would be easier, but it's a unibody frame and you would have a damn near impossible time trying to find weld points that wouldn't cause potential damage to the frame.
I bet it would be easier to find a way to mount something that was bolted to the inside of the trunk and allowed you to keep the rear trunk lid fastened while in motion.

I built a trailer hitch for my '67 XKE 2+2 in the seventies to tow a Honda SL 175 with it'se front wheel1 off the ground............look strange with the handle bars high than the E! especially from the front!
Never had any problems ............ it's your car!!
Cheers, Adrian

If so, this bike carrying solution one member uses on his XK could also work on the F-Type:

On occasion I have been known to strap the mountain bike to my Suzuki Bandit.
A good trailer shop should be able to fabricate something. Though I'd also consider a strap on rack for the bike.
