X Type Transmission Problem
I have recently bought a 3.0V6 Sport with All Wheel Drive transmission. I am getting a low frequency vibration through the floor and steering of the car that feels like something is wrong with the transmission. My dealer said it was a wheel balance problem and that he had fixed it - but the vibration is still there!
Anybody had a similar problem and how did they fix it?

RE: X Type Transmission Problem
Hi There:
Im also new to the Jag family. I recently bought a 04 X type with 22k miles on it, and it had a all around vibration like from 55 mph all the way up to 75 mph. When I bought the car, the RR tyre was different that the other ones in the car, so I told the dealer salesman that one of my conditions to close the sale, was having them giving me a new tyre just like the other ones the car has. They accepted and after I left the dealer with the car they refered me to a tyre shop were they balanced and installed the new tyre to the car. After I left the place, it was slightly better, let's say like 10%, but still vibrating, so I went back to the dealer and they took the car to the shop, so the kindly gave me a loaner and I was told that it was going to take a couple of hours for them to check the car. In the afternoon I was called an informed that the car was ready and when I was back to the dealer I was told what they did to it, and they replaced a support that holds a bearing inside. This support is what holds the cardan shatf, that brings the power all the way from the transmission to the rear differential, that replaced part definetely made the diference, since all the vibration disappeared right away.
I hope this one helps you as well as everybody else with the same problem.-
