Default X-type wagon to pickup conversion.

I am reaching here, sure not many have been inside them.
Question, when I cut the roof off an x-type wagon, is there
anything up in there that will cause real issues?
I would think nothing out of the norm, a few wires.
But in case someone knows.
Cut would be behind drivers area.
Like and x-type el camino

The roof is part of the supporting structure on most cars.

Many years ago we cut the top off a Corvair. The frame sagged so bad the doors could not be opened. We didn't care, we just hopped over the doors into our new convertible.

My guess you would have to install a roll cage to the back corners or the drivers seat and run the bars to the back of the hatch area to hold the strength.

innzane, because of being a unibody design, doing what you are talking will result in body sag. You will need to build up the support on the underside of the car before cutting the roof. Most of your support is going to be needed under the front doors. You can stiffen up the rear by simply welding the rear doors shut and adding a little structural in the door seam on the inside. Probably will need a little bit of side to side build up too near the rear wheels to help the back from folding in on itself too. This is where a good cross member will come in to play.

Sounds like nothing is there then, good.
Bracing will certainly be used.
Thx for the input.

I didn't say that it wasn't possible. I am just saying that I hope you don't get into a wreck with the car. With the car being a uni-body design, it uses a lot of the body for its structural strength. If you are using a FWD only X-Type, then this isn't quite so much of a concern as the stresses in the car are less and you haven't modified the portions that would see the most stress. BUt, if you get hit in the side with the modified X-Type, I have a feeling a lot of things are going to come crushing in on themselves. Hopefully in the one that is pictured, they incorporated a good cross brace with rounded edges to help "throw" the stress around the passenger compartment. But, this is the engineer coming out in me.
