Default X400 - replaced water pump, now fans don't work

Hi All

My 2007 X-Type 3.0, overheated, due to the water pump failing.

The battery was disconnected, prior to the mechanic, fitting it.

When the car was restarted to fill the cooling system, the fan immediately went on, while the car was really cold, and then
went off after a few minutes.

Now the fans don't work at all, even when the air- conditioner is switched on.

Please help.

Warm Regards

Peter,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Sounds like a bad module.

Disconnect the connector to the fan and try spinning the fans manually to make sure they are not seized up and can spin freely.

If you have a multi-meter you can do resistance tests on the circuit. You may be able to rig a power supply to the fans just to make sure they turn.

If all that is good, I would replace the fan control module. Stay away from the aftermarket Chinese ones, as I have heard they do not work (I had 1 and it did not work). If you can get an OEM module that would be ideal.
