Yesterday I put my x up on 4 jackstands and let it run in top gear, I have a bad wheel bearing noise going for the last 2 weeks. I am on front wheel bearing #7 so I doubted that it could be yet another one of them, but the rears are the 2 original ones. It sounded like a rear bearing, but I could not be certain from the drivers seat.
Once the car was runing in the air, the culprit was clearly coming from the left rear.
I was worried that this might have been the rear diff, because it started soon after I changed the diff oil.
I crawled under the car and the noise is clearly from the left rear hub, not the diff. so I think that is good news.
OK.. so I need to change the bearing, any advice on this job? Jag Genius, can you get me the part?

lol.........ummmm not advisable.
Did you get the "package"?
You can get it off with a regular puller if you are careful.
A hint on the front hub bearings btw. It is cheaper to buy the whole hub which comes with the bearing already in it.

no package yet..
this is the rear bearing .. I assume the thing to do is buy the hub - bearing installed.
I have done my front bearings 3 times by buying the whole knuckle (aka Verticle Link in Jag-speak)

Yeah I was referring to the front. I know your problem is rear. I think you have to pull the hub then press out bearing. It has been a long time since I did X rear bearing. They don't often go bad down here.
