"The automaker has said it’s moving away from V-8 engines, so perhaps we’ll see more powerful versions of the supercharged V-6 in the future."
That is too bad. The Jaguar V8 has been an outstanding engine and will be sorely missed (at least, by me). I purchased both my XJL and XF in late 2012 exactly because I was told that the NA V8s in those models were being dropped for 2013. The V6 is OK but, every Camry has one and it just does not compare to the smoothness and drivability of the NA V8.

Same here, love the V8 and the sound of it. Although, the new Maserati Ghibli i got see and hear in person, sounds soooo good with the v6.
Here is more.... New Jaguar XE to get F-type's V6 engine | Autocar
Jaguar confirms its new BMW 3-series rival, due next year, will come with the F-type's supercharged V6 as well as its new range of Ingenium engines
The Jaguar XE was revealed at the Geneva motor show early last month

2 April 2014
The upcoming Jaguar XE will be available with the same supercharged V6 engine already used in the F-type sports car when it goes on sale next year.
It was previously reported that Jaguar would only use its new range of 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engines – currently referred to as the 'Ingenium' family – on its BMW 3-series rival.
Jaguar's official UK website has now, though, confirmed the model will also be available with the same supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine seen in the F-type V6 and V6S models. The engine produces 335bhp and 325lb ft of torque in V6 convertible guise, propelling the F-type to 60mph in 5.1 seconds, and on to a top speed of 161mph. It returns around 32mpg, with CO2 emissions of 205g/km.
In higher-powered V6S form, the engine produces 375bhp and 339lb ft, dropping the F-type's 0-60mph sprint time to 4.8 seconds, and boosting its top speed to 171mph.
The XE is likely to be priced from £29,000 when it goes on sale in order to remain competitive against its rivals, including the new Mercedes-Benz C-class. The car will use a new high-tech aluminium platform, and sit underneath the XF in Jaguar's range.
A company spokesman confirmed the power unit would be offered, and that further details would be released ahead of the XE going on sale.

Lighter weight, and with new technology just as good in my opinion as an older V8. I understand the thought of less HP, but who really needs the 500 to 600 HP engines on American roads and highways. High HP V8's are great for a track environment but not needed on a road or highway in the USA.
I am not sure about other countries however. Just my opinion.

One of the things I like about V8s is the broad powerband! Lots of low end torque to get you going without having to rev the engine up.
My wife's non-turbo Sonata is a real chore to drive. Just driving around town, I'm always having to go past 4000 rpms just to keep from getting run over! Meanwhile in the Jag, if I were more well-behaved, I wouldn't have to go past 2000!

I've moved your thread from XK/XKR to XE forum (leaving a redirect in XK/XKR).
Interest in the XE will inevitably increase as the launch gets closer and this is the place for discussion.
