2017 XE 380W Meridian Stereo Upgrade Stereo?
I was interested in any way to convert the 380W Meridian Sound System to upgrade to the 770 one, or at least some way that I could add a center speaker so that the soundstage could be more full, rather than coming from the edges, particularly the driver's edge. My last car I had an aftermarket Kenwood Receiver that used time correction to allow me to adjust the stereo image so that I heard a phantom center channel. While I would be happy with that, I don't know that it's possible.

One possibility that would have some real downsides would be to add a Center Mid Channel, and only run mids through it to catch vocals. If it were quieter than the left and right it might help the soundstage, but if too loud it would cause the soundstage to collapse into mono. If the left and right mids were removed via crossover, it would leave all vocals front and center. This might sound good, but is obviously not what the content creator intended.
I've read a bunch of threads about stereo systems in Jags and Land Rovers here. Maybe the best suggestion was from someone who reseated the tweeters so that they "crossed" each other. The driver would get direct tweeter hearing from the passenger side and a bit of off axis from the driver side. The passenger would get the reverse. That would seem to set up a good stereo field that would help soundstage without messing with a center speaker at all. I'm open for suggestions!
