Brakes and Rotors
Hi All
I have a 2017 Jaguar XE 35t AWD.
in the market for changing brakes and rotors. the dealer is chrging close to 2700$ for them. looking at other brands. i like the r1 concepts and have used them in m acura previously. I have seen brembos making brakes and rotors that are compatible too. i dont intend to change or upgrade the calipers.
Any recommendations regarding brand or set to use?
I am sure someone has asked this before, but wasnt able to locate it properly. hence asking here

It is very easy to find alternative suppliers for things like discs and pads. Best is to find who is the supplier to Jaguar and buy them as all car makers add on huge margins. Unfortunately I don't know who they are, but it will probably be a European make, although that doesn't mean they'll be made in Europe !
Other thing to say is that the original discs are properly finished so you don't see ugly rust on the non-brake surfaces, (mine are coated black). Some cheap discs are just bare cast iron and soon look horrible. So don't go for the really cheap stuff.

I snagged a set of rotors from Brakenetic. They fit perfectly and work fantastically. Was $500 something off eBay came with pads and hardware. I tried to warp them doing the 60->0 hard stops 6X as fast as possible. Gottem glowing and they stayed straight as an arrow.
i know this is old, and sorry. But do you know where I can find the details on how to replace the brakes on the 2017 jag xe 35t AWD? not sure if there are any special requirements. It has been a long time since I have done mine before and that was not on a jag.
Basically I will put it on jack stands and take em all off, and hang the calipers, BUT not sure if I need a brake pad spreader, a bleeder or anything special tool wise, or special considerations?
thanks

I can’t offer you any advice, but on the F-type forum, the brake pad wear sensors are reported to be a bit of a hassle. Interestingly, my XE pad wear sensor just tripped at around 40k miles.

The brake sensor tripped on my '18 XE 25t AWD with 18" wheels. A visual inspection shows the rear pads have significantly more wear than the fronts (assuming they started with similar thickness), and the rotors visually look OK. I'm thinking of just changing the rear pads, assuming I'll do rotors/pads all around when the fronts wear out. I'll ask the place I take it to if they agree, but wondering what your experience has been. Thanks.
