Brand New XE vibrates with cold start
I just received delivery of my 2017 XE, 2.0 Liter 240HP turbocharged gas engine. Upon inspection at the dealership, the XE was started without difficulty. Both myself and two passengers immediately noticed a mild shaking type vibration while still in idle. There was no excessive increase in rpm. I did not drive the car, ran it at idle for several minutes with no change in the vibration. I was told by the general manager this was normal due to "engine self-balancing". I asked to check two other gas XE in the parking lot, neither of which vibrated upon a cold start.
I have not finalized payment and have the option not to accept the car. Is there a problem with the brand new car?

I think it is best not to accept the car until they sort out the problem. As you say, this fault was not present on the other cars in the showroom, and their somewhat outlandish reason for it beggars belief, frankly ! I ask you, "engine self-balancing" - what nonsense !! These guys need to be in other jobs.

XE motor vibration
I have gotten 3 separate emails confirming my concern that this is totally unacceptable. As this is a brand new XE, I am going to refuse accepting the car. My own suspicion is it has to do with one of the cylinders misfiring. Regardless, I cannot and will not feel comfortable buying the car with an engine problem noted even before it leaves the lot. It bothers me that it left the factory without this being detected. Thank you all for sharing your opinions. Sorry to let it go, as it is a beautiful looking car.

Thank you for your post.
I am sorry that you are experiencing concerns with your vehicle.
Please could you send me a PM with your vehicle information and contact information so I can look into this further?
Many thanks,
Lucy
