Lightbulb Engine Swap

Hi everyone,

I am considering swapping my XE R-Sport 2.0 Diesel RWD engine for an F-type R V8 but so far, Jaguar representatives cannot answer me whether it is doable or
not.

I did read that the new XE P300 has the F-type V6 engine so I thought, why not keeping my XE and change only the engine. Does anyone know anything about swapping them two engines?

Best,

FO

All of the electronics will be totally different for starters and that includes the sensors and control modules as well as the electrical harness.

as they say if you are willing to spend enough money almost anything is possible barring physical size placement issues.

Hi.
You can get a v8 into an XE, and JLR will be delighted to sell you a brand new project 8, for about $200,000!!

Unfortunately, the new P 300 is only 4 cylinders and JLR has dropped the v6 for all XE models. I would think your cheapest way to more power would be to trade your 2.0d for a pre 2019 XE-S with 380 bhp and tuneable to at least 420+

Ambitious. Lots of mods to consider but I am rooting for you

Agreed. The project 8 had quite a bit of work done around the firewall as well from memory, to make the engine fit. The 380hp engine is a cracker (I have it in the F Type) and Jag have been putting it in the F Type in 400hp form as well. That's plenty in a RWD.

So much engineering was done the Project 8, that if you bought one at sticker it's quite a deal. If money is a consideration, I would trade in the 2.0 for the V6 and go from there. Would be less expensive and actually work.

Jackra_1, thanks for your feedback. I assumed that I'd have to swap a few things but needed to know whether it would be physically possible to fit the V8 in it.

From the Project 8 videos I saw, I don't believe it is possible to fit the v8 in as is (in XE). I thought the v6 and v8 were the same size...

Hi Keith100,

To be honest, I already knew this all and been following the project 8 ever since the first rumours came out probably 2-3 yrs ago. The prices in Europe are way higher than those in the US (£150k; €200k - €240 in Germany and just over €300k in Portugal).

Also aware of the P300 engine and the fact that JLR dropped the 2018 XE S 380bhp model due to low sales caused by EU emissions policy. Been trying to sell mine and get my hands on the 2018 XE S 380bhp but it is extremely hard to resell diesel engines in the EU ever since they've announced a "deadline" for those engines. Even spoken to Arden to get that engine and design upgrade already and can easily get 450bhp+ on it but thanks for your reply.

Thanks.

I love the 2016 XE model and not a big fan of the F-type so I guess we'll see.

The Project 8 only kept the front doors and roof of the original model. Been looking at the 380bhp for a while just need to get mine sold.

They redone the whole car and the front chassis had to be extended to fit the new engine. Now, the F-type V8 should be slightly smaller hence my question.
