Instrument Panel - crack in central perspex cover
I didn't notice this until a few days ago, and one only sees it when the light is on it. The centre of the instrument panel between the speedo and revcounter has a perspex cover over the centre display, and I have a vertical crack in it, mostly invisible until sunlight gets on it. Question is has anybody else had this ? I went into my copy of the XE Workshop Manual I downloaded from the internet, and found instructions for removal of the instrument panel, and how to remove the lenses. There are three, one per round instrument, and a waist-shaped centre one. The instructions take one through removing/replacing each of the three. I am wondering whether mine was removed some time between May 2017 and me (2nd owner) getting the car. The only thing I can think of is a previous warranty claim on or near this item caused its removal. If so, then it looks as if I have to claim as well ! According to the workshop manual all three lenses can be removed, but, of course, the question then is - can replacements be obtained ? Or does the dealer have to swap out the whole thing.

That's the good news. The cost may not be so welcome.

I was suprised Jaguar Online Service History (OSH) doesn't include warranty information but Stratstone Jaguar were able to find record of a warranty claim on my XK using the Direct Dealer Warranty - Vehicle Details section of TOPIx. Your dealer should be able to do the same to discover any previous relevant warranty work on your XE that could have required IP removal.
