Thumbs down Jaguar display error and workshop disappointment

Hello, I have a problem with a Jaguar XE 2016, which you can see in the linked video. I can’t access any options or connect my phone because almost no text is visible on the screen. I’ve tried restarting the system and even disconnecting the battery, but it still doesn’t work. A day ago, I took the car to the official Jaguar/Land Rover workshop in Granada, Spain, and they told me the following. At first, they thought it might be the screen, but since I work in IT, I told them that wasn’t the issue. After replacing the screen and seeing that it still wasn’t working properly, they suspected it could be the software or the module. The thing is, before replacing the module — since that’s the most expensive part — they said they would try updating the system. I asked them why they didn’t simply reformat the module, and they told me they couldn’t, that they could only update it. But the most incredible part was that they told me I had to authorize them to update the module because “sometimes the screen may go black and break completely,” and if that happened, they wouldn’t take responsibility for the repair. My question is: does this also happen in other Jaguar workshops, or only in Spain? Does it happen in the UK as well? If they break it while trying to update it in their workshop without me touching anything, how is it not their fault and why should I be the one to pay for it? If you take your iPhone to Apple and they break it, I’m sure they would take responsibility and give you a new one. I’m very unhappy with the after-sales service and would never recommend this brand to anyone I know. I would like you to share if you’ve had any problems with your car and if they have responded to you in a similar way and where.

Sorry, I have generally not been satisfied with the dealership service (a lot of replace it first and see if we get lucky). I was fortunate to find a good indie for the mechanical stuff anyway.
