Hello! I’m new here. Looking to purchase a 17 XE 35T prestige. Has 80K miles. Wondering about common problems. I’m a mechanic and I’ve owned Mercedes before so most things I can handle myself. Wondering also any good tuning companies?

Welcome. VelocityAP (“VAP”) is popular here, especially on the F-type forum. Their tune takes the V6 to ~415HP. Add the larger crank pulley for ~450HP. I have their tune on my F-type, good company to work with.

First, it is a great car and the v6 is wonderful. It pulls and pulls. I also have the VAP tune (stage 1) and will agree they are excellent. I do not track the car but I do drive it like a teenager! A teenager lacking the sense God gave a shovel! Lots of fun!

The only real issue is that the cooling pipes (early welded plastic type) are subject to splitting. I have these pipes and am at 65k miles with no issues, but am shopping for a good mechanic to replace these proactively.

thank you for your two responses! I’d be willing to throw a new set of hoses on there myself. Do you guys know if any good kits? Maybe some upgrades kits. Also, the vehicle has a camera fault and doesn’t show a rear camera when in reverse. Normal issue? Or just a camera problem of some sort. Thank you all so much im Super excited to purchase it

There are a number of threads on the F-type forum on newer Jag cooling pipes that aren’t flanged (the failure is often the flange separating), or better yet, aftermarket aluminum pipes. Euroamp sells a kit with everything but the pipe at the back of the engine.

The engine is tried and true. As others have said, watch out on cooling system with those plastic plastic pipes. At 80K miles, those pipes need some attention. If you see the temp gauge goes up or you smell coolant pull over and turn off the engine right. away

noted I appreciate it. I’ve found the coolant tubes and they don’t seem horrible to replace. So that should be in the next week or so

This post https://classicairheads.com/blog/202...r-replacement/ from gfp@classicairheads.com(thank you GFP!!) helped me out no end when I had to replace my coolant pipe(s). I wish I'd have done the rear crossover heater pipe (p/n AJ814053) at the same time I did the one under the supercharger. The supercharger has been off twice now. I did learn after the second time that there are some brackets at the rear of the supercharger that didn't need to come off. This saved me a good hour or more since the bolts for the bracket a pretty awkward to get to.

I also had some issues with the little plastic connection that comes out of the front of the water pump. I drilled and tapped my water pump and put in a threaded fitting and used a new piece of hose.

Hope this helps some.
