Hello, everyone. New to the forums here. I just recently purchased a 2017 XE 25t BASE model that came with NO backup camera and NO HID headlights. I've got two questions:

1) Will the HID headlights from any other XE model fit on my car?

and

2) Is it possible to retrofit a backup camera from another XE model on to my car? The dealership has told me that it was impossible to do because the capability is not there in the BASE models.

I think you SOL on both fronts.

FWIW, I had a base option loaner and did not think the Halogen headlights were far off from the HID's.

 

I swear it looks like the HID version of the XE headlights looks like the exact same shape as the halogen ones on the base XE, so long as it is from the same year.

I wonder if anyone's looked into this.

Yes. But most sellers are selling the pair for $800. So if I buy it and it doesn't fit, I'm SOL.

 

I ended up just upgrading my bulbs and ended up with brighter lights than the HID option. No muss no fuss.

I also wonder if I can just order the upgraded version of the touchscreen (the one that comes in the premium and r-sport editions) and install it in my base XE. That should allow me to install a backup camera at that point. The screens are the same exact size with same amount of buttons (8). Should be a direct swap...
