power cut at 260kmh and speed limited to 180kmh
Today I was testing out the speed limiter on my xe s. I managed to hold the speed for about 3 sec after which the limiter kicked in. Strangely enough, my car went into partial limp mode and the speed would nt go any higher than 180 even though i had my foot down all the way. I was in S gear. After letting the speed come back to about 120 for about 2 mins, I was able to go pass to the limiter again.
Anyone experienced this? Seems abit strange for the limiter to limit the speed to 180. Unless of course the transmission temp reached a limit. No CEL came on so I'm wondering what happened. Didnt want to repeat it again in case there really was something wrong with the car.

Obviously you were on a German autobahn ! Most people on here rarely get over 160 kph. For those unfamiliar with kph, 260kph is 162 mph. Rather dangerous on anything other than a completely empty highway.
I saw this and thought the same.....nowhere on roads in OZ could you ever contemplate these speeds.
well....I wasn't on the autobahn but somewhere "safe" i could test.
I thought about the experience and might try it again. I've a feeling because I was in S and didn't manually override to 8 gear, I may have over reved the 7th gear resulting in the ecu throttling back to protect the gearbox.

The XE S has a ECU speed limiter to I believe about 123MPH. If you have a tune, then this is unlocked allowing you to gain the full power of your engine as in the F-Type without this limitation.
