Took my first long run, 190km round trip on thursday,

On friday I put something in the trunk and noticed two 1"+- long black marks in the bottom of each exhaust tip. It turned out to be soot.

Is this usual or is my engine (V6) running rich during break-in? There is only 550 km on the car so far.

I think these cars always run rich. I've had people following me during spirited runs tell me they can smell fuel out of the tail pipes on multiple occasions.
