Stolen and recovered sos Limited functionality
HiMy jag xe was stolen and recovered the next day. 2 questions1) anyone know how they got access without the keys. I didnt think they could use the relay method as have to press button on key fob. 2) when they stole it they clearly took it round the corner and did something to disengage the location on the incontrol app. However I was still able to lock/unlock, start engine etc. Maybe why they got frustrated and the police found it with a broken window. Also, sos Limited functionality warning. jaguar service says I need a new telemetrics unit through insurance. But surely I wouldn't be able to communicate via the incontrovertible app at all? I don't mind but don't want them to replace the unit only to find doesn't solve the problem.
Any thoughts welcome

Where do you keep your car keys ?
Thieves see a nice car like your XE, and then with quite sophisticated kit based on a lap-top, look around to see if they can detect the key signal. Whilst you say you have to press the Unlock button, in fact if one approaches the car with key in pocket, the car will unlock without you doing anything. The car detects the key and unlocks the car. The thieves capture the key signal using a receiving device, record it on their kit, then transmit it to the car. Bingo, they're inside ! To make the signal undetectable, you have to put the key in a Faraday Cage, a metal surround, so the signal cannot escape. An old biscuit tin will do the job.
I keep my keys in a back room of the house, not near the front door. I believe the newer keys have motion detectors, so that after about 5 or 10 minutes, the key shuts down its transmissions until the key is moved again.

Thanks, mine is 67 model so the car doesn't open unless press button on fob. But yes, have got Faraday box and pouches now. Will get a disclock as well as I suspect puts off many would be thief's.
