Which of these brake options should I choose: Brembo or EBC? or?
Hello,
I cannot seem to find anything other than Brembo, EBC, or "generic" like power stop, Zimmerman etc. I am looking at a performance enhancement. I came up with the following viable options, the rest eh. (I saw power stop and R1 look ok, but as much as I want drilled and slotted, I heard those crack and have noise and technically a blank (but still vented) will technically outperform in terms of stopping power. I will PROBABLY never track it, I want the option too and will do spirited street driving some times. So I decided best for yellow stuff EBCs. They do not make blue stuff for the XE.
So here is as follows:
EBC RK2048 12.8 325mm 41mm height thick 20mm out of stock 6 to 10 weeks.
EBC RK2046 13.8 350mm 48mm height thick 32mm. out of stock 6 to 10 weeks.
Front pad: EBC DP42253R Yellow stuff. In stock factory.
Rear Pads: EBC DP42246R Yellow stuff. In stock factory.
For Brembo:
Brembo 09.C209.21: Rear 325mm 20mm thick 42mm height (ONLY AutoZone seems to have these lmao)
Brembo 09.D064.11: Front 350mm 32mm thick 48.2mm height (ONLY AutoZone seems to have these lmao)
Should I wait for the EBC rotors? the slotted ones are also just as long of a lead time. Or just get the Brembo's with the same EBC pads and call it a day? Pricing is about the same. I think technically the Brembo is a tad cheaper but not enough to make this about price. all within 220 bucks give or take for the pair.
NOW, I can spend about a 100 more and 200 more on the front and back EBC's to get slotted but Brembo has no slotted option.
What do you guys think of that combo? get the Brembo and EBC pads? or get the EBC rotors with their pads? or EBC rotors with other pads or Brembo with other pads? If so what would be a good recommendation? I heard the yellows do have a tad bit of noise at low temp? does that mean it will be a lame brake for pretty much everything? Anything better out there? Or just get the reds? Surely while they say red cannot be tracked, I can imagine a tiny short few laps on a half day probably wouldn't be over doing it? anyone ever tracked reds? The only real other options for pads I see are like stop tech etc. And I hear Brembo pads actually suck. They have a regular kind and NAO what ever that means? A few more options I would have to pick around to see which are the right ones, but the rotors are easier, and with EBC it was easy getting that part number.
I would GREATLY appreciate thoughts and opinions.

Watching this because im in a similar predicament and don't know what to buy for my XF-S (same sizing as your XE 35t). The dealer has quoted me $1,100 for rears ONLY. Which is too expensive for me and something I can do myself. I don't like doing things in stages, so I am looking for options to do front and rear myself now. I have searched everywhere and come up with R1, EBC, off-brand stuff (RockAuto), Brembo, OEM Jaguar, Zimmerman, etc.
I am leaning towards Brembo plain rotors with Portefield R4-S pads. (VelocityAP sells the pad kits, not the rotors)
Rant:
But I like the ability to upgrade and wish there were more street BBK's available for these platforms. There is a Brembo GT kit for $4500 and an Alcon based XE kit, both for $3000+. And both are fronts only. I wish we could find something that allowed a 355-380mm front, 2pc rotor with a FIXED caliper. I cannot believe Jaguar put the standard ugly floating calipers on these cars at their price point. Especially the S/Sport trims. I have no complaints about the OEM stopping power really, but would like the benefits of upsizing, weigh reduction, and stiffness that comes with better overall systems. Appearance would be another benefit of a nicer kit with better calipers.

Pretty much the exact same thoughts I was having haha. I looked at wildwood too, zilch. I want the OPTION to track (I prob won't as I am pretty freaking lazy, mostly from ADD but eh) but rather some serious stopping power, BUT I don't want any real noise. Noisy brakes seems.... ghetto to me. you know, like waiting til they are bare metal to metal of the pad pins on the rotors lmao. so I want to avoid squeaking and noise like that. but I also wanna make sure my normal driving has good stopping at colder temps, especially in the winter.
I thought about just saying **** it and getting red stuff, as I heard the yellows can be ?? idk.
But those kits, that is weird they have only fronts lmao. like wtf. I bet it's a size that fits several, and the puny 325mm rotors we have just aren't on enough things to justify making it.
As for the R4s, I heard those are no good? or was it the others? I cannot remember, they have a r-4 and a r4s or something similar in nomenclature. and one is not a good idea. I can't remember which. I heard blue stuff would be the best of both for the yellows, BUT they don't have blues for the jags lmaoooo. so yeah, this car was clearly a mistake. But next one will be some really nice any thing that actually has aftermarket support though. there is literally nothing for this thing. lmao VAP has some, but pff. Don't even get me started on rims, with their Bull **** measurements. it's ford focus wheels and thats it. so finding OEM sized rims was impossible, had to go up a full inch on each rim (width) to find anything since I had a cracked rim. cost 3500 bucks with tires. (mmr fs06 bronze) my car is racing green.
Btw, do you know if we need 4 wear sensors or just one for front and one for back? Can't seem to find that info. Definitely probably has to be replaced of the "replace pads light" is on.

Hey. I just found out I think the brembos are each whereas the ebc are per pair. So that makes the ebc like half the price overall. Does that sound right, or are the brembos paired as well? I couldn't actually find any information on that? I'm at AutoZone now so I'd hate to order 2 front and back and end up with 8 if they aren't as expensive as I'm seeing haha. For that price I may just get the ebc rotors. Thoughts?

if your going for the “brake” upgrade have you considered the calipers along with steel brake lines to complete your upgrade ?
I assume you know there are none for this car? lmao What caliper upgrade do you think I could get? Brembo and wilwood have none. If I had found some, I would have.

Some there have had good service from "R1 Concepts". I did look and they have them for the XE in slotted, drilled, drilled and slotted and plain.
Hope this helps.
