Default Upgraded Rubber from OEM Conti's...huge difference

Two Sundays ago I picked up a 1/4" bolt with one of my rear tires. This left such a large hole the tire could not be patched. As I have put 7K on these rears already and the remaining tire only had about 50 pct tread, I decided to replace both.

I selected the Pilot Super Sports for the legendary grip they have, and WOW, what an incredible difference!

I have noticed the new rubber grips way better than the OEM Contis' did during their first 1000 miles, I do not loose traction in the rear at every 90 degree turn from stop like I used to! This is not just because of new tread, the rubber simply grips better.

I've noticed the super sports 'hook up' to the pavement way better on 0-60 acceleration as well, making my times noticeably faster (butt dyno). The faster 0-60 in 4.5 runs by Motor Trend and Car and Driver were accomplished with sticky Perelli's, and not the Conti's that come standard on the USA XE's.

The improvement is really noticeable! I'm going to put some on the fronts pretty soon as well, I like the improvement so much...

So, if your high power Jaguar is losing grip on the rears, try some new shoes for your Baby, and you will probably be pleased!

I'm a fan of the Michelin Pilot series- the Missus has a set on her German rocket assisted roller skate of a car and they improved it's handling....

Yeah, I saw that.

I like my Italians just fine for the time being.

I'll go with the French Pilot series when these wear out.

Never had much luck with the German tires.

In the USA my XE RWD came from the factory with the Continental ProContact GX. The Super Sports are decidedly better, in wet too! (We just had rain...)

Pirelli Cinturato? That's what came on my XE. I had to replace one tire, and fix a bent rim, within the first week or two that I owned the car.

Maybe Michelin XTS's on steel wheels might be a better choice for Brooklyn and Boston?

The finish on the wheels are quite fragile as well. They scratch way too easily compared to other JLR wheels I have owned.

Conti GX are OK tires. They seem to wear relatively quick for all season and quite poor in snow and rain.

If I had space, would definitely got some good summer or high performance all season tires

The other day I got a significant back end slide in rain with TC off. Sure I was being a bit of a hooligan (empty wide non residential street) but still surprised by the lack of traction in rain.
