Hello, I am interested in tuning my Jaguar XE S. The two main options I see are velocityap and a tuning box like RaceChip. The tuning box advertises more power at a lower price, but I am skeptical. What do you guys think?

 

I've had a VelocityAP tune for over a year now, no issues at all; i'm happy with the improvements.

I have the tune (no pulley) on my F-type (same AJ126 engine.) The power increase isn’t all that noticeable, but it smooths out the power delivery, which is noticeable.

With VAP, if you change pulleys in the future, they won’t charge you for the tune for that, if you’ve already bought a tune. I’ll probably do that at some point.

 

I am also another happy VAP customer. Running the tune and pulley for about 3 years now. It just flat works. I even got a nice boost in gas mileage which was totally unexpected!

I started with the Phase 1 tune about 3 years ago and agree with DJS's characterization. Early this year I went to Phase 2 (Crank Pulley). And it is quite a bit different. Much torquier, a real beast. Major improvement.

VAP's customer service is extremely good.

 

Note that my F-type S went from 380hp to 415hp, not a big increase. Is the XE V6 340hp from the factory (same as the base F-type)? That would be a bigger difference going to 415.
