that has nothing to do with the signal strength. It isn't even important . The car is awesome to drive. It is a fun car to drive.

 

Apologies if this isn't true, but on the UK 2017 model - which I think is the one that will be sold in the states - an upgrade to either of the meridian systems includes a second USB port and a cd player. It also include in-control touch pro and a different navigation system. I have no idea how useful in-control pro is, but the upgrade to sound and to satnav is a must.

I have no idea what is standard or extra in the US version(s), but I am fairly sure you get the 2017 model from the off. At the prices you pay you could get gold plated paddles and still come in under the price I paid for my XE in the UK - do get the uprated stereo

 

yes..I was told at the event that we will be receiving the 2017 model here in the states. i suppose we will see what the car looks like at the dealerships whenever they finally get here.

 

Just to compare the amplifiers role in the sound output. Play a song through your USB port or through you iPod connector, set the volume to a respectable level, somewhere in the middle of the scale. Then Switch source to CD player and don't adjust the volume. If you play the same song throug iPod/USB/aux connections you will be able to hear the difference in sound quality and clarity, plus it will be much louder as the amplifier is upgrading the stronger signal from the head unit that is putting out considerably more wattage than the ipod ( ipod = 1.5 watts versus the head unit = ??? Way more than 1.5 watts of output to the amp..lol)

 

According to order info. that was provided to me yesterday, in Canada, the system is the same as you describe with the optional "Technology package".. it provides what you have mentioned above.. the Meridian is the 825 watt system and the screen is 10" rather than 8" etc.
