i have a 09 jag supercharged, my car will start with no problems and no dash warnings, but as soon as i set the car into reverse or drive or sports mode, car won't kick into any of the gears and a transmission fault appears on dash, could this be a cause of low oil or a bad sensor ? please help.

 

Even more likely is that one or both of the small (8mm hex head) bolts that holds the shift cable to the trans side (under the car) has come loose / fallen out.
