Default 2013 XF battery drain

My son in law's car has a constant battery drain .
Any service advisories out there for this ?
it has been to two different auto electric shops both claimed it was repaired when he picked it up but not so much .
He is at the end of his rope , any help would be appreciated.

Good question. There is another forum for these earlier model XFs, someone there might have advice to offer. XF X250.

If an OBDII unit has been used at any point, this can sometimes cause a battery drain problem which has no other explanation (well documented on the F-Type forum).
1) The fix: a hard reset by disconnecting the battery for a minute and reconnecting.
2) the battery must be charged FULLY; if it is by chance the original battery, its is at the end of its service life. It may simply be that it will not maintain a charge.
if a new battery is to be installed it is imperative, read IMPORTANT, that the new battery be fully charged before or at installation. New batteries are almost never fully charged off the shelf regardless of what the selling clerk may say.

Why doesn't he check it himself? He can do this by using a test light on the fuses to check which one's are still live and which one's aren't. Some fuses are supposed to be live all the time depending on what they're for such as the ECU etc but some are supposed to go dead after a few minutes of opening the door if the car is not started or the accessory mode is not turned on such as seats, interior lights, radio etc.
Parasitic drains are usually caused by something that's running that shouldn't. A faulty fan motor for example can cause a drain too if the fan suddenly starts going in the middle of the night. This happened on my old XF and it turned out the actuator for the fan was faulty due to having gotten some water in it and was blowing at random times (usually when it was parked in the garage). It just so happened that I never happened to be in the garage when it would do it until I took the car to my dealer and asked them to remedy the drain. After the faulty sensor was replaced, it stopped it's antics. I had to replace the battery too because it had gone completely dead after being drained and jump started so often.

Default Been there , done that

He has had it to a couple shops already and spent hours doing the fuse checks . I hadn't heard mentioned the battery being less than fully charged yet good enough to start the car .
He has a jaguar specific code reader . I might let him drive mine and give it a go myself . My xjr did something similar and I found it stopped simply by hitting the door locks .
Thanks for the input
