AJ126 timing chain replacement interval?
Hi great forum community,
for aj126 v6, how often timing chain needs to be changed/replaced? Some places claim 80 - 100 000km, some people claim 150- 200 000km, ?
Please advice also how much this job cost.

The AJ126 V6 timing chain is designed to last the life of the engine. There is no set mileage for replacement.
It should easily last over 150,000 miles with proper maintenance. The most important thing is regular oil changes. Letting the oil get low is what causes the chains to wear and start rattling.
You only need to replace it if you hear a rattling noise on cold startup.
The job is very expensive. Expect a cost between $3,000 and $5,000 because the entire front of the engine must be taken apart.
