Default Replaced Timing Chain

Recently had to replace the timing chain at 33K on a 2011 XK Coupe. Lots of $$$$ any comments. I still LOVE this car.

Was the replacement necessary due to chain guide wear?

This is also the forum for the X100; you have an X150.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have posted as X150. I do not know if it was from chain wear. I was surprised that this happened at 33K as was my Service Advisor at my dealership.

What diagnosis was performed to determine the timing chains needed to be replaced?

I've moved your post to the X150 section.

Any background info on the fault?

Primary and/or secondary?

Tensioners were an issue on the previous XK8 4.0 model and finally resolved with the fourth generation on the 4.2 litre. Chains were rarely reported as an issue in isolation.

With a chain issue on a 5.0 litre, you must have had to replace sprockets and tensioners too?

The OP appears to have a 2011 5.0 litre car.

Sounds like you just got hosed. Which dealer? Rosenthal Tysons? Chantilly?
