Extended Warranty or No?
Just bought a 2016 Jaguar XF S, still under the factory warranty but wondering if I should purchase extended warranty on the car. I called third party places and they quoted me anywhere from 4000-6000 USD. I thought it was steep, or is it normal?
Please let me know if you guys have any advice! TIA

What does Jaguar want to extend the warranty ? If the car has been OK up to now, i.e over 4 years, why bother ? Have you investigated what it costs to restrict the warranty to the drive line only ? (engine, transmission, through to the rear axle)
I've used my bumper to bumper warranty on the Jaguar a few times already. The oil was leaking somewhere and they fixed that up, I had all my tires replaced thru them, etc. I just don't know if its worth it. But they did offer me a bumper to bumper warranty. I will research and look around a bit more. Thanks!

I recently bout a 2016 xf prestige and bought the extended warranty. I paid 4k for full coverage on the entire vehicle(which was the highest level of 3 they offered). I usually don't buy this as I know they are a scam but my fiancee talked me into it. I believe it extends to 100k miles. When I bought it it had 47k miles
I bought the car from a Kia/genesis dealership. They had gotten it from Mercedes dealership as the owner of the dealership owns multiple different branded dealerships.
You could get a lot of work done for $5K. That being said, extended warranty is always a crap shoot. I only bought it once, because it was inexpensive ($1200) to 100K miles, and it paid for itself and then some. My X260 has been solid for almost 4 years but I don't drive that much (5K/yr.). I haven't read about any high mileage X260s and problems though.

Read the fine print on these. A lot of those warranties are for mechanical components, like drive train, but do not cover computer problems. I have been following this forum for most of a year and I see a lot more baffling computer problems than mechanical failures.

I had a 17 XF 35t and loved the V6. Yes, that is what they charge, call a company called Endurance and get a quote from them that includes general maintenance like oil changes, brakes, wipers, battery along with the comprehensive extended warranty, you will be just under $5k I am debating on buying one for my 09 XF Supercharged with the famed 4.2 engine

I've had remarkably good luck with CPO covering unexpected, high-dollar repairs. While there are lower cost third party insurers, I'd go with one via Jag that extends the term of the CPO coverage. When I bought my '18 Jag at 45k mi, I was given the option to extend the CPO for another 2 years for ~4k. Almost as an omen, the car soon came down with a radiator leak, requiring parts to be shipped from England. The dealer took care of it at no charge. I think a few k's is probably a good tradeoff to sleep soundly at night knowing that almost anything (barring road hazards) is going to be covered.
