Default Jaguar XF Outlet pipe/coolant leak (aj813865 / aj813917)

Hi Everyone,

I need a bit help with my coolant leak. I dont have warranty and the dealer here wants to charge me $1700 bucks to replace 2 parts that cost under $100, lol. Long story short, i have a 2014 Jaguar xf 3.0 supercharged. Had a weak water pump which was replaced (including the black plastic tube behind the water pump it self, 2 o-rings). After the water pump replacement i still had a leak, this time i went to dealer and he pointed out 2 parts which needed replacement (aj813865 / aj813917).

First question:
1. Does the black plastic pipe behind the water pump (short oil cooler tube) need to be lubed, i read this in another forum? If so where do you lube it, do you lube the tube from inside where the o-ring goes, do you lube outside of the plastic tube where the 2nd o-ring goes, do you lube the metal part where the plastic tube fits on the water pump?

2. Does anyone have any directions on replacing the Outlet pipe, part aj813865? This part is attached to the water inlet tube (aj813917) which is fairly easy to replace. I checked under the hood and see some work. The air intake will have to be removed, also the Oil filter container. Any suggestions fellas.

How to remove the outlet pipe under the water inlet pipe. The intersection of the pipe is where the red circle is. I've listed both parts in the post.

Thanks,
Faz

That job is a pia as the sc has to come up to install the new style(no parting seems) outlet pipe, up no off. Which meens you also need the sc top gasket and the intake gaskets. I always lube the orings for ease of assembly as well as the threads for the water pump because sometimes steel and aluminum dont like each other will seize and the bolts will snap off in the block. Then youre looking at a ton of work to repair. Yeah i think about down the road issues cause i might be the one still taking it off down the road.

Hey Brutal,

I've replaced the outlet pipe successfully. Now the car smells like coolant, however there are no leaks and the coolant container show no signs of coolant leak.

When we were doing the job there as coolant near the oil cooler, We got most of it out and my friend who is a mechanic kept saying it will evaporate over time, so we closed it back up. Now its 3 weeks later; after i drive the car for 10 mins, park, i can smell the coolant. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the coolant? There is a small layer of coolant by the oil cooler, underneath the intake manifold.

Do you have any details on how you replaced the pipe (supercharger off or partially removed, etc.).

Thanks in advance.

i wash it out with a hose before i give back to customer cause it will smell for along time. And additionally i dont want old coolant stains remaining making me or someone else thinking theres another leak down the road

I am currently having this issue. this board is amazing. Thank you all for responding, I am loosing it over here, this pipe decided to start shooting anti-freeze everywhere, I went to the dealership to purchase a single pipe, and was told I had to buy two, due to an upgrade. I have not clue where to begin after I've removed the original pipe.
