My 36,000 Mile Annual Jaguar Elite Care Visit - Poll.
Upcoming at Richmond Jaguar here in Virginia on Oct 6th.
In addition to oil (Castrol 0w-20 & filter change), dealer will also be changing Cabin and Air Filters if Warranted. (at my expense I'm sure).
As I inspected my front & rear pads, I see plenty of friction material on all 4 corners. My hope is that the rear discs are holding up well but know that just 2mm of wear ain't much of a limit.
I realize that torque-vector braking and anti-dive yields faster wear on the rears than the fronts.
Has anyone recently had their X260 brakes replaced?
At what mileage?
Front / Rear? Pads / Discs?

2017 CPO XF Premium 3.0L s/c RWD with 36k miles
Coolant system: steady at top of Min mark still.
Battery System: steady with no issues after 8/2020 replaced.
Rust after rain.. Front Left. Rust after rain.. Rear Right.
The techniciam will measure the disc thickness and if its on or beyond the wear limit will recommend replacement. If discs are changed, pads are changed too. It is not cheap at a Jaguar agent, I'm afraid. At my local main agent where I have a service plan the cost will be shown on the inspection sheet. This is in thje UK, or course, it may be different in the US. If those pads have gone to 36k miles so far, you've done well; clearly you're not a chap who is heavy on the brakes. Some guys are real "wheel spin to wheel lock" drivers !
As Fraser suggests, brake wear is a function of driving style and not directly related to distance travelled. However, two factors that can cause excessive and premature wear are a sticking caliper and/or runout on the disc.
Subscribe. As a point of reference..... I consider myself a normal brake user. No last minute braking, don't ride the brakes, mostly around town and flat straight roads and freeways. Usually get around 20K miles on brakes and rotors. At 15K miles I had 88% remaining pad in the front and 92% in the rear on my XF. What amazes me as much as the pad wear is the lack of "brake dust" (obviously related). I'm guessing the original pads are kevlar/ceramic/special compound of something.

Aside: is Adaptive Dynamics on the suspension noticeable?

I included it with my new build because it was so inexpensive. The car handles excellently for a 4 door ..... more like a coupe. I don't know if the car I test drove had it or not! I do know that it corners almost flat regardless of speed or radius and I attribute that to the AD.

Despite a call 2 weeks ago from my local Jaguar Service Mgr asking if I needed a loaner (I said Yes), when I called this morning to ensure all was set..
No Loaner! Yay!
Instead of crying foul, I walked across the street and rented this RR Sport.. Picked up the wife for dinner without forewarning her of no Jag loaner.
Her look said "Did you buy a Land Rover?
I did ask the tech this morning to have the Service Mgr call me to learn what went wrong. Sadly, not only no call all day but when I asked again when I arrived today to drop of the XF, the tech said "Oh, he left you a voicemail."
As we visually inspected my below MIN coolant expansion tank, the tech then asked me for my phone# to follow up with me tmw as they worked on my service visit punchlist.
I asked "My profile is missing my phone number?"
He said Yes..
I told him to get it from the Receptionist..
(who had written it onto a yellow sticky.)
Or better yet the Service Manager. Right?

This lack of customer respect should certainly help win over Lexus owners.. sad.

After 3 days, my Jaguar tech said come get your XF.
Brake pads and discs were well within spec after 36,901 miles. No one could give me the disc run out numbers though.
Warranty covered expansion tank, cap & lower engine vent hose (T2H1438) that was evidently the cause of my slow coolant loss.
They also retained about 4oz of spent oil so that I can send out for a Blackstone analysis. I've done this for every car over the past 10 years: Porsche 944, Hyundai SF, '15 Mustang.
I will post results here in 2 weeks.
I also paid for a full detail & wax on top of the normal vacuum & wash.
The paint looks spectacular but alas the detailer barely bothered with the wheel brake dust as seen below.

I thought the plastic hose problem was solved prior to the '17 build by going from a seamed pipe to a solid pipe. I guess not. I have a year of warranty remaining and the buried under the supercharger plastic pipe is a concern. I like the new facelift XF except won't buy a 4 pot so am considering keeping my car after warranty. Dilemma. Haven't heard of very many of them failing on the X260 though.

The offending hose seems way at bottom of plumbing as shown below?
I too like the interiors of the FP & XF but only the suv makes 400bhp; with some electricity no less!
I was immediately struck at the 30% NVH increase upon receipt of my XF vs the rented RR Sport.. wow!
Both have very new tires but the 21k miles Land Rover was way, way quieter over the same roads I drive daily. Not sure if the new RR has the noise cancelling that's upcoming on the "x261" but oh my its serene. Better low speed ride comfort in the XF over broken/rippled roads. And my RWD is so much more pleasing in low speed maneuvers than the AWD.
Lastly, my service advisor feels that apart from the well-documented cooling issues of the aj126, the X260 has no other frailties. Pretty Cool..
Anxious to see how 16,100 miles affects the engine wear and TBN of the Castrol Edge!

I think it's normal for any dealer. Mechanics have to work way too fast to make money IMO. Especially the times they give on warranty work. Two yearly services ago they shorted me 1 quart of motor oil. Probably pushed the 4wd button instead of 2wd during fill (watch that when you get it done). Then they said it was OK and not to worry! Of course I made them add it.
Local Jaguar Dealer service completed my 3rd year Annual EliteCare Service for $0.00 about 3 weeks ago.
Oil & Filter, 1 Coolant Hose and 1 Coolant Tank replaced under Warranty.
My '17 XF v6 had a slow coolant loss..
which I still have.
Dexcool in the boot for safety.
I sent the 1 year old, 6,100 mile spent oil to Blackstone for OA and the results are very good.. including the Total Base Number (additives) remaining.
Their narrative was interesting in that I had initially indicated the oil had been run for 16,100 miles. They simply did not believe the metals levels in the oil and the remaining TBN were possible at 16k.
Blackstone only recommended running an additional 2,000 miles on the "next" interval. Which would be half of the 16k Service Indicator Log the dealer reset to.
Which leads me to question how good the oil would really be after those full 16,000 miles?
I also use Blackstone. I have one more "free" service then I'm on my own. I plan on doing an oil analysis at 6 years to see if it needs a yearly change. I doubt it because I do less than 5K/yr. and get at least one good road trip a year for a good blow out ( 1000 miles, 90 mph + through the desert to Az and back).
Sounds about right from my experience. Jaguar Bellevue (WA) didn't order a trunk liner in time to have it when I arrived for yearly maintenance. I had asked them to order the part using my VIN to insure they got the right part a week prior to my service. So, I had them order it again and paid when I was done with the service appt. After I drove 120 miles home, I noticed that they overcharged me for the wrong item. They orded the wrong one (I have a spare, not repair ki) and charged 100 dollars more than the website said it was. So, I called and cancelled that very day. That was 3 months ago and I have been begging them to return my money, but they refuse. So, I paid $380+ for nothing. I was told once"The check is in the mail" and now they just don't respond to my texts. NICE

Bought 4 new Goodyear Exhilarates UHP A/S tires.
My previous tires were finally becoming slicks on the outside shoulders. Really liked their dry handling but wet days were becoming far more fun than my wifey enjoys.
Obviously softer ride with 1/5" more rubber on the contact patch and wet grip is superb.
15K Oil Analysis Just In!
Blackstone reports very positive results which is a relief as the most miles I've ever run on an oil change was half this distance..
Zinc, Phosphorous, Moly, Calcium and Total Base Number still show wear additives active.
Flashpoint @370F and some trace Iron present are the only items that would prevent an interval of maybe 20k.
Who knew how good Castrol Edge Pro JLR was..!
My daily commute is just 4 miles but on days off 50 mile qualifying laps are the norm..
