needs a repair manual
My car arrived yesterday, 2016 AWD 3.0. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the repair manual? This car is decades newer than anything I have owned before and I would feel better if there was something that explained how things work.
Like the oil dipstick, which is gone, leaving me with a representation of a gauge on a screen. How do you look at the oil to see if it is dirty? How reliable is the digital gauge?
50 years of tinkering with cars is all gone to waste.

Seems accurate. Oil pressure measurement backs it up (no gauge, but warning light).
Until you or someone is dead on the road and you can go through the basics...turn over? gas? spark? air?
Lots of experience on this forum and elsewhere makes it clear that the AJ126 (that is what you have Carson) and AJ133 engines really need to have the oil and filter changed twice as often as the designated JLR interval of 12 months or 16,000 miles whichever comes first.
I also have "inside info" that the electronic oil level gauge / read out is not be trusted so another reason to change the oil often and early.
You can get the oil tested by sending a sample to a testing/analysis company (such as Blackstone) who will then give you a full report.
The easiest way to drain the old oil or grab a sample is to get a vacuum pump and connect it up to the oil extraction tube (in the middle of the oil filler hole), but you still have the option of draining via the sump plug if you prefer although that old fashioned method is a bit labour intensive as JLR in their infinite wisdom decided to cover the sump plug with a pesky under tray that must be removed first!

All owner information for current models is online and available free through:
https://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/
Servicing, maintenance and repair information is available through Jaguar TOPIx:
https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topi...cle/lookupForm
Although aimed at Jaguar Dealers, TOPIx is open to Independents and individuals ...... at a price. Some documents are free but for access to most of the information connection time must be be purchased by the hour, day, week. month or year. Several members have paid for a few hours or a day and downloaded the entire owner and workshop document set for their vehicle.
There was a site ( www.jagdocs.com ) selling Jaguar Workshop Manuals in PDF format but I think Jaguar must have finally tired of this breach of their coyright and taken action to close it down.

TOPIx seems to have it. a 24hr subscription for $32 allows you to download pdf segments of the repair manual. Not all in one piece, but the sections that you want. All of them, I suppose, if you have the patience to download each segment. I have not looked at the segments yet, so I don't know how many there are. Like you might not want collision repair. It is an aluminum car after all.
