Default Okay, about that ******* auto stop/start!!

New X260 owner here (2016 Premium 3.0L). I have heard there is a module you can unplug on the XF to permanently turn off this feature that I absolutely despise! Can anyone tell me if this is true, and if so, where is the exact location of this module and what are the ramifications of doing so? I know you can press the A button every time you start up but I'd rather just go without having to do that. Anyone? Thank you in advance for your input!

It's up and behind an easy access panel inside the right side of the trunk. The correct plug to pull is not easy to get to and there's pictures of it on this forum if you search. Actually there's two plugs on that module/can that do the job. One provides the hot line and one the ground. You'll know you pulled one that works when you start the car and the SS disabled light comes on. The one with the large black (ground) wire is the easiest to get to. I've had it disabled for over 8 years with no problem.

Thank you so much! I'll do a search for it. Does the SS disabled light just come on and go off then when you go on your journey? Does it happen every start? Thank you in advance!

Every start it comes on and stays on until shut down. Just like when you push the button.

Okay, so I checked all the threads about unplugging the black plug with the 4 wires and it seems to disable the *** (lol) Auto Start Stop which does give you a case of the ***. That plug is almost inaccessible with a hand bigger than a child however. How did you all accomplish this? Also, if you really hated it and knew you weren't going to ever use it. Why not just snip the easily accessible cable with the four wires that goes to the plug. If you for some unknown reason wanted to reattach it, you can always rejoin the color coded four wires. Anyone know of any issues this might cause. Here's a picture with the cable that contains the four wires goig to that plug. It would take 2 seconds to just snip it and then forget about it. Am I wrong?

I guess I could try to unplug the grey plug with the one big ground wire first as stated above. It's also hard as heck to get off however. How did you get it off?

Yes! Plugs are extremely hard to get a grip on and pull out. Don't cut the wires, just try harder. If you cut the wires then when you sell/trade the car are you going to tell them? Just unplug it, don't butcher it.

Why couldn't I just get crush wire connectors and reattach the wires if I sold it. It would look fine and work again. And I can't imagine anyone actually likes the auto start stop except the EPA. lol.

There's no aux battery in the X260.

So, mleskovar, on the big plug with the one ground wire, do you push on the tab to release the connector or pull on it?

Well, thank you Jesus (and mleskovar) I finally got the big grey plug off! The illumination of the A button with the circle goes off after a few seconds of starting the car, and the auto start/stop is disabled. On my car it doesn't even tell you it's disabled, it just is as if you would have pushed the disabled button. I'm glad to hear that this is the plug you've had off for 8 years with no problems!! I hope that is the case with mine also. To anyone that has disabled the auto start/stop feature on the X260, has anyone had problems associated with pulling the plug? Anyone?

It's been 8 years since I pulled the plug but I still remember how hard it was to get a grip on it, depress the tab, and pull it out. I do remember that the plug I pulled out was easier to get to than the other one. One plug is input (heavy gauge red wire if I remember correctly) and the other provides the ground (heavy gauge black wire) and was easier to access the latch tab and pull. Be patient and try different approaches.

Read my last reply mleskovar. I got it! Thank you!! I absolutely despise that feature!! So idiotic in my opinion and all so the manufacturers can squeeze another miniscule 1/10 of one mpg out of their lineup to meet mandated miles per gallon standards. SMH.
