Default Thermostat

I have a 2017 XF 2.0D AWD with what I believe to be a failed open thermostat. It has had the slow response code in for over a year and takes forever to get up to normal operating temperature. Made for a cold ride last winter. This is the huge thermostat from hell, with 4 or 5 hose connections, that is wedged into position halfway down the left side of the engine. Considering the astronomical fee the dealer wants to replace it, I will probably tackle this myself. Videos are extremely scarce. Any experience on this one that you can give me?

It's not the worst job, I've done them before but as a dealer tech. There are many small plastic lines, so you need to be careful to not crack or damage other things on removal, which is tough on an older car when things are brittle. Can be mostly done from the top, some of the lower lines are easier from the bottom but take your time, don't be afraid to move things out of the way to give yourself more room, it's better than breaking them.
