wear and tear?
Took the xf for a four year service and was told that a back disc had corroded on the inside after 27000 miles. the outside of the disc was perfect and polished.
Had to replace both back discs. Questioned why on one side had corroded and was told it was wear and tear. I believe it was due to a seized caliper but no response.
I took the disc home and noticed that the outside disc was worn but the inside disc was a lot thicker.
Was I right?

Probably yes without seeing it but I can't think of another condition that would cause that kind of wear. Don't have knowledge of the p-brake mechanism in these cars though.

Four year service with 27K miles. This must be the earlier 2007 - 2015 (X250) XF model and not the current 2015 onwards X260?
Discs and pads should always be replaced as an axle set. The most likely cause of the uneven wear you describe is a sticking caliper.

IMHO Something doesn't make sense as, as I believe, these are single piston calipers and the piston is on the inside. The only possible explanations I can conceive is that either the inside pads were seriously glazed or the parts they showed you were from another car.
