Default 09 XF Supercharged Custom Intake

I fabbed up a custom intake tubing kit for my XF. It replaces the plastic resonated section and the accordion tubes. So far I'm very happy with it. It's hard to say much about hp gain unless I had dyno numbers. I was mainly looking for more sound. I haven't reset the battery yet. Sound has increased a bit but it isn't significant. I'll report back after a battery reset and some miles.

I can definitely reproduce this for others. There isn't much out there for the XF so every little bit helps. Drop me a PM if you want one and I can get your more details.

See the link in my sig to buy your own intake.

I used 3" tubing which is slightly larger than the stock size. Anything larger will have issues with hood clearance.

XFR has the 5 liter engine, slightly different configuration. Don't think it would make a difference on 510hp engine anyway.

The sound increase is noticeable but it isn't excessive. It isn't as loud as these videos of a XJ 4.2 SC with a intake pipe. I'm not sure why. The videos are still interesting though:

Doh, that's right . Even says right in the title that it is for an 09. Regardless, it is awesome that someone made a tube for the 09 guys' 4.2 motors!

If there is someone local to me (Minneapolis) with a SC 5.0L/XFR they could bring it to me and I could put something similar together.

Just installed mine today. Didn't take long. Hoping I have no leaks and all good seals. Any easy way to check for leaks? Loosening the filter covers is basically required. Excited to drive around tomorrow. I didn't trim the engine cover. Will look at it again and see if it seems necessary another day. Definitely looks good.

Good deal! You'll know right away if you have a leak. You'd get a check engine light or erratic idle. The cover doesn't need to be trimmed but it helps it fit better.

Do you know if anyone is still making these intakes for the 4.2 SC?

I measure 135 degrees, measuring base of left intake and bottom right of rubber angling into center. Geez, my explanation probably just confused things. Let me try again. I get 135 degrees on the outside arms coming into the middle. If you mean the angle between the two arms as they enter the center, I'll have to remeasure, as I'm not sure the arms are at 180 degrees from each other.

my plastic y pipe air intake cracked and I can’t seem to find a NEW replacement so I either want to make a custom or buy one!
