Default 1st gear performance in S - dynamic mode

I recently bought a MY10 XF premium and when is S and dynamic mode using the paddle shifter in 1st gear the performance is choppy and feels like the traction control is braking the rear wheels intermittently. The dealer said this was normal and is doesn't behave this way if I let it shift in auto mode (S and dynamic w/o using the paddles). However, I was driving a MY13 with the I4 and the car accelerates in 1st gear as expected in S mode with paddles but doesn’t have the dynamic mode. Anyone else have this experience with the S and dynamic on the 5.0L using the paddles? All other gears are fine.

are the wheels actually breaking loose? if so, that might explain it?
What happens when you fully disable all DSC ?

I also have that model and year, and yes, I also have that same thing happen.

If you hammer it from a stop and shift at revs it is smooth but if you let off while in 1st, the car jerks back and forth and is very hard to smooth out unless you get off the gas completely or shift to 2nd.

I figure it is like a manual tranny car jerking if you let off the gas in 1st too much without shifting and the jerking action causes you to hit the gas again without really meaning it.

That's what happens when you give 385 horses a go instantly.... That's normal.
And, the 4 cylinder engine wouldn't brake the tires loose anyway even if it had dynamic mode.

You didn't hit redline in first gear by any chance?

No I didn't hit red line and it didn't break the tires, I'm picking the car up tomorrow and will try to give it constant acceleration before I shift up to 2nd. Glad to hear it's not a problem. I don't have much experience with "manumatics" so looks like it may be a learning curve for me.

Got the car back, put the pedal down and shifted fine, operator error. Thanks for all the responses!
