Default 2.2d Oil service and battery terminals

Morning all,

I’ve just bought a 2012 ZF 2.2d and intend to do an oil change on it. I’ve previously serviced my Mondeo and Audi (both 2l diesels) so have a moderate amount of experience, though by no means a professional. Managed to source 6l of 5W-30 Castol Edge Pro C1 from eBay so am almost set.

I was pleased to see that the oil filter is accessible from the top and that there is a suction tube fitted which would make life much easier. My manual vacuum pump is knackered though so I had intended to get a 12v oil extraction pump to do the hard work. My Audi had battery terminals wired to the engine bay so the short pump leads wouldn’t pose an issue, but I don’t believe the XF does.

TLR - has anyone got experience of using a 12v oil extractor pump, how did you power it?

Thanks!

James

To the left and back a bit from the air cleaner box there should be a red hinged plastic cap. There’s a terminal there with a 12v feed. The neg is anywhere else that’s clean metal
