Default 2009 Backup Camera Issue, help please

I've searched this forum, tried doing research before posting a noob question so I'm sorry if this is somewhere I haven't looked.

2009 XF S/C, when you put the car in reverse the screen goes blank/blue. It worked when we purchased the car for about a month. I removed the upper trunk liner for inspection, where the camer is on the outside, there is nothing on the inside.... Hmmm, wonder if that whole panel comes off from the outside of the trunk lid? I'll look into that, but in the mean time, had anyone dealt with this issue before?

Thank you in advance for everyones time reading or replying to help me tackle this issue

Don

I've never heard of the issue. You'd have to get at the camera and see what happened. It sounds like the camera crapped out (water maybe?). A Jaguar replacement camera is obviously best but there are a lot of universal cameras out there that might swap in.

Sounds like the wires that go from body to boot are broken..... others have had this happen in UK.

Body to boot? Meaning at the hinge where the trunk lid opens and closes, or at the camera itself which I haven't found how to access yet?

Thanks everyone

Yes.... the hinge area...... i think its to do with the constant flexing of the wires.

I was looking for a back up camera and I believe others were with an 09 as well, but we were told that it was not an option for us. Did you go by a Jag dealer to get any info on it? I would be very interested in getting it on mine. I have the back up sensors but no camera.

The camera uses a coaxial cable to transfer image info. Remove trunk lid liner and look for coax cable. The coax cable needs to be measured for continuity between rear of car and at touch screen. Sounds difficult but not very hard. Have found issues with cable and not camera.

I removed the trunk liner etc but there are NO signs of cables. I assume I'll have to remove the front trim piece that also houses the camera as I'm guessing it's wormed through the trunk metal etc.

Otherwise to the other members this is a factory system that came with the vehicle new, not an aftermarket add on

The rear light wiring will follow the same path, generally, as will the electric trunk release. If you can see no wiring you are looking in the wrong place. Bear in mind that the trunk lid is two part, inner and outer, made from aluminum. The wiring is probably fished through between the two metal parts, the liner and the skin, and may only be visible at each end of the wiring pathway.
