Default 2009 Jaguar XF Headlight repair

My passenger side headlight stopped working about 2 weeks ago, I brought my car in to the Jaguar dealership and was told that the wires overheated and melted the rubber cording, then shorted out when they touched wire to wire. They estimated total cost for the repair on that was $1000. Which I do not want to pay. Is there another (cheaper) fix for this? Has anyone had this issue already and had it repaired at a cheaper cost?

If it is only a wire issue, then one can simply replace the bad one by splicing in a new wire in its place where it is bad. The dealer is accustomed to replacing the entire harness. This is why the cost is higher. You can splice in a new one and solder the connections (better repair) or replace the entire harness (best repair). They both will work well.
