Default 2010 XF 3.0l petrol V6 starting issues

Ex-wife’s car. She had a leak in the plastic cooling manifold and I told her to monitor it and top it up until she could afford to fix it. She didn’t monitor it and subsequently the coolant got low and the water pump seal began to leak until the engine management shut it down before overheating. I got it back to my house and she borrowed her sons car. Check dtc’s and it had logged a code for low coolant shutdown (sorry can’t remember the code). Cleared the code.

Ordered an aftermarket water pump and a welded aluminium coolant manifold, fitted these, bleed the cooling system as per manual then tried to start the car (BTW water pump is a bit of a ******* of a job on the Ford V6!). Car would not start, it fired whilst cranking but not start. I tried intermittently for awhile but it wouldn’t start. Checked I hadn’t knocked a connector, checked battery around 12.5V. Tried wide open throttle thinking it might have been flooded then it started went to about 2500rpm then died, tried again with open throttle same. Tried again and now battery starting to fade. Late in the day now so put the battery on charge overnight as per correct procedure. Next day reconnected battery (13.7V) and started no problem. Sounded great then a high pitched sequel started. Had to stop the engine as I found a coolant leak (Ill fitting hose on new manifold) dripping onto the new water pump pulley and making the accessory drive belt slip. Fixed the leak. Tried to restart and would not start. Same again fired but would not start. Tried wide open throttle no good. Used iPhone OBD app no fault codes logged. Put battery back on charge. Googled possible causes, investigated fuel pump fuse and relay all good. Cleaned MAF, check throttle body all good. Then thought fuel filter clogged or fuel pump failure. Despite the local auto company selling me one I later found through a Jaguar dealer that this model had the fuel filter deleted after a certain VIN (probably a cost cutting exercise through Ford at the time). I was absolutely dumbfounded to say the least. It is absurd to delete a necessary serviceable part. So I removed the rear seat to check power to the fuel pump all good 12.5V. Assumed fuel pump had failed because I didn’t hear it running on ignition. Bought an aftermarket fuel pump, went to fit it, removed the fuel line on the tank unit, fuel sprayed everywhere. Realised the pump was ok, got my son to put the ignition on whilst I checked the pump, pumped for a couple of seconds so I knew it was good. Just to be certain I checked the pressure in the fuel line all good so it’s not the pump. Tried to start again, turned over no problem, fired a couple of times but no good. Tried starting with accelerator to the floor several times but no good. No fault codes logged. Charged battery again. Next day tried a starting aid no good. No fault codes logged. Have now given up. The coolant level has not dropped since I did the water pump. The battery reads 13.7V after charging. There are a couple of components/sensors below the water pump that would have had coolant water on them. One is a vacuum control solenoid. I thought they would have been sealed or dried out pretty quickly with 30-35o days here ATM. All this has happened over a number of days since I put the pump in. I did notice this morning that the battery voltage drops from 13.7V after overnight charge to about 12.64V after about 10 minutes after reconnecting.

After a period of trying to start it it falls to 12.59V so battery health is OK.

Current OBD readings as follows:

Fuel pressure is 5.07 bar

Coolant temp shows as -39oC (a bit weird)

Ambient 34oC

Control module voltage 12.4V

Vehicle voltage 12.0V (again a bit weird may just be reading that it is a generic 12V system).

I don’t know what to do next and would appreciate any assistance at all possible please

I'm no expert on the 3l non S/C, but a wrong coolant temp reading will mess up the fuel mixture.
-39°C sounds like that sensor is either dead or the cable is disconnected.

If I were you I'd start with that sensor.

The fuel filter was NOT deleted! Any Jaguar dealer who states that is clueless.
It's mounted in the fuel tank and according to Jaguar does not need replacing which I find laughable!

Here is what it looks like;

Close up with part number.

I have one on my bench but have not swapped it out yet. I have not found anyone who has?

Ford did not own Jaguar in 2010 as Tata had purchased them in 2008.

Not sure what to suggest as it's difficult to read big walls of text.

Thanks Chris, I’ll have a look at it, the sender came with the new aluminium manifold so I just left it in.
Cheers

Thanks Clubairth, I’ll checkout the part number.
I used to work for Ford in Australia in product planning and am fully aware of how long it takes to implement cost cutting processes, especially when redesign is required. Usually about 2 years for the total process of initiating, implementing cost cutting program, redesign and production planning, so it’s quite feasible that Ford did initiate it. Anyway, as for the wall of text, I tried to provide as much detail as I could up front to alleviate the normal toing and froing I see in many threads asking for more information which only delays the process especially when I’m on the other side of the planet. Sorry you found it hard to comprehend. Maybe suggest a didn’t format perhaps? Thanks for your assistance
