Car runs beautifully but won't come out of limp mode. Won't go over 4500 rpms. Code P001A, would appreciate any insight. Jag dealer says new wiring harness for 3 grand.
P001A Generic "A" Camshaft Profile Control Circuit/Open Bank 1
The "A" camshaft shall be either the "intake," "left," or "front" camshaft. Left/Right and Front/Rear are determined as if viewed from the driver's seating position. Bank 1 contains cylinder number one, Bank 2 is the opposite bank.

Get a second opinion! Take it to another Jag repair shop. If there is an issue in the wiring harness they should be able to trace it and repair it. Sounds like they don't want to take the time or are not capable of this type of repair.

I'll add that it would be very strange for a wiring harness to fail after only 5 years by itself.
Did you have some work done recently that someone could have messed it up? If so, you can pinpoint the areas they were working to find the damage.
If not, I would suspect they are just blowing smoke up your tailpipe. So hard to trust mechanics these days because they can't make big money being honest.

Wow, what happened to the old engine? How did you blow that up in such a short time?

Replaced engine because of oil pan damage, engine was seized up. We have replaced all cam sensors, mass air flow sensor won't go over 4500 rpm's but runs smooth. Motor we put in has 32K on it. Still P001A code.
That sure changes things!
You really need to pull everything apart again and check your work. Sounds like the main ECU plug is already damaged. Just too many possibilities for things to go wrong.
Did you have the shop manual or did you just work from memory?
