2011 jaguar xf 2.2d. when car is unlocked via key fob, lock seems to try to budge but doesn't unlock. latch as to be unlocked from the inside for the door to be able to be opened from the outside

As i said, door seems to be trying to get unlocked, but not travelling enought outside

Any idea as to the culprit would be of immense help

 

Just had problem, everything appears to lock but stranger without key fob opened drivers door. On checking drivers door, all appears to lock but in fact does not. Removed door card IAW instructions posted and found cable not properly seated in handle mechanism. Small push and piece of masking tape to hold it while I wrestled panel back on with all connections and it works fine, 40Mins and a garage bill saved!

 

I have seen on a few occasions where the cable on the inside of the door panel comes loose, there should be a small metal clip there that prevents this. Otherwise, it will be the door latch, they are a common problem on the xf's.
