The brakes on the XF-SC and XFR are the same, correct?

I think the XFR has bigger rotors.

It seems like most of this discussion is about XFR and XF-SC. I have a 2010 XF Portfolio, I can't find front ceramic pads, I have found them for the XFR but not the XF. Every manufacturer seems to have rears but no ceramic fronts. Does anyone have any info on this?

My previous post, #20 in this thread and the is the last one on the previous page, has a link that includes 2 manufacturers of front and rear ceramic pads that are readily available for an XF.

EBC redstuff pads fit our car and I think Stoptech makes pads too. I found a few manufacturers that makes pads for us, not as man as the XFR though. but it shouldn't be hard to convert to XFR brakes if you can find calipers.

As far as a write up goes, there is already a brake DIY on our cars. just look under the how to guides thread which is a sticky so it will always be on top, and then scroll down to the DIY. It looks like Edobernig did the write up.

Now I have this 2012 XF and I don't know if they did something different finally, but these pads are not dirty at all..after about a week of city driving and highway driving, the dust level or dust coating is hardly noticeable..I'm very happy with this compound in these pads....whatever it is..
A few years ago (I don't remember when, exactly), JD Power started asking about brake dust in their initial quality survey. Car magazines predicted that brake dust would become a thing of the past in short order. I'm noticing on the newer BMWs and Mercedes in various parking lots, their wheels have almost no brake dust. I think the changeover occurred around 2012. My wife's 2008 MB produced unbelievable amounts of dust so I replaced the pads within a 1000 miles with Porterfields, and that pretty much put an end to brake dust on her car.

Say, what are the recommendations for front rotors? I think my front rotors are slightly warped, so I may as well replace them when I have the pads replaced.

Default Wrapping is not common, glazing is and causes pulsating pedal

The rotors probably are not actually wrapped. They can be glazed. This is when some of the pad material melts or bonds into the surface of the rotor during certain conditions when the rotors are hot and the brakes are clamped down. The fix is resurfacing which will relive this for a while or to totally replace then. I have used Centric rotors with excellent results.
