2011 XF Unresponsive Trunk
Help needed. I have a 2011 XF with 48K miles. I now have a unresponsive trunk. I cannot open from the inside of the car button or the key fob. I saw online that I should replace the trunk braces and that was done but still the trunk will not open. Please any suggestions.

Your problem is probably the wiring around the trunk hinge that goes to the latch. It's common on many car brands for this wiring to develop a break in one or more wires because that wiring has to flex every time you open and close the trunk. I did it on my 300C a long time ago and it's an easy fix of just splicing in new wires over that segment. Best to replace all the wires, not just the broken one, or you'll be doing this project again soon.

With the physical key from the key fob make sure to twiste it at the key ring.
The key is hard to turn and so if you have a ring attached to the key at the end it helps with the torque to turn the key for the trunk.
I thought I couldn’t open my trunk when my battery died because I tried turning the key by holding the actual key and turning but the angle is tough. The dealership tested it serviceable and then showed me this trick by turning at the key ring attached.
Give it a try again
