Question 2012 XFR project questions for the group

Hello all long time member but I think this is my first actual post. My 2012 XFR recently went into the dreaded restricted performance mode with the CEL light on. Turns out it needs timing chain service and I have the old 6 mm chain While I have the engine out to fix all that I am getting everything I can think of done at the same time. Replacing all the plastic hoses I can find, doing the bosch 010 pump upgrade, Mina exhaust, Mina lower pulley, Alpha tune, adding wheel spacers, have spoiler, diffusor, rear view mirrors, and door handles in carbon fiber coming from Vehicle Revolution, supercharger service is getting complete as well.
I have a couple of questions for the group.
1. Is the general opinion that aftermarket intakes are not good on the AJ133 engine? I have the Mina one and have read so many different opinions that I am unsure to install or not. I don't understand how adding smother and more air to the supercharger intake would be bad but then I read that somehow it is making our cars run poorly.
2. Is the x-pipe install worth it on our cars? For performance and sound?
3. Has anyone actually installed a killer chiller or water/meth injection on an X250 XFR AJ133 engine? Is it worth it?
4. Is anyone in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area that would like to do a meet up?
5. Is the upgraded charge cooler worth it? I know it won't hurt to have a full aluminum charge cooler but at $500-900 dollars depending on the vendor it seems really high for not much gain but what say you?
I will update this thread once the engine is back in and parts start goin on the car. Appreciate the communities help with all this.

Replace the plastic cooling parts with the lifetime Aluminum ones. We have dozens of threads on this and it's well worth doing.

For sure I have ordered everything I could find in aluminum. @clubairth1 I have studied up on all of the previous posts and work done on these cars including yours. Thanks for the wealth of info. bro!!! I was unable to find any definitive answers on a few things so I just wanted to ask you guys who, as these threads show, have walked down these paths before. Thanks for the reply!!!

I think installing the Aluminum cooling parts is just a complete win all the way around!
If these were done at the factory the forum would only be about 1/2 the size it currently is!
Over heating from burst plastic pipes are the number 1 killer of Jaguar engines. Especially if you don't stop driving the car NOW when it happens.

Keep asking questions too that's only way for things to make sense to YOU!

I did not notice any effect on airflow CFM using Torque App obd with the Mina intake and KN in the boxes. Did not try thier open intakes (yet) THere is a youtube video that has a coudl of guys tesing it on a dyno but they are back to bacj as the day got hotter in a standing garage with no airflow, so there are a few who say no way and that the aluminum condcuts heat into the airflow. That makes sense but the furfacte area and heat condution does nto seem there would be a lot of heat transfer but I did nto look at AIT comparisons *(but think I may)

X-Pipe and front muffler delete are standard on the XFR-S so I would think Jag engineers feel this it was worth it...

I have an exhaust I am selling if you have not gotten the Mina Yet... In the marketplace or PM me and we can work out a deal
ALso Have a set of H&R spacers for sale if you want

I have the Mina Exhaust and H&R wheel spacers sitting in my storage room. Along with tons of other bits Waiting on my car. Had to order a new engine for it. Timing chain issues wreaked havoc on the internals. Going to shop tomorrow to look at it.

Divided opinions on the Mina intake system, I'm in the camp that says it achieves little or nothing over the already very good stock system. The same with K&N air filters. I put a Twin Cities Performance intake tube kit (pretty much identical to the Mina kit) on my old XFR and it did nothing and it was a bear to fit. I also put K&N filters in and again no difference. The X-pipe (or H-pipe) is definitely worth doing especially if you add an ECU tune and lower pulley.
Long story short I had the XKR-S tune put on my 2010 XFR (XKR-S coz Denso ECU on the older XFR like my 2010, the XFR-S tune only works on the newer XFR like yours with the Bosch ECU, but otherwise identical 550 PS tunes) and it would not "stick" until I had an H-pipe put in (in place of the front muffler). Tip - remove just the front muffler to fit an X or H pipe, DO NOT remove the resonator behind that front muffler otherwise you will have constant unbearable drone.
Go for an X-pipe if you prefer a deep "muscle car" exhaust sound and an H-pipe if you prefer a more refined exhaust note.

Thanks for the info @OzXFR I installed the K&N's already. Didn't notice any difference. The guy that's tuning it said the same thing about the intake so I think I am going to skip it. While my engine is getting replaced they have the exhaust sitting on a wall. I should take it to a shop and have the H pipe installed now lol.

Looking at that engine you have the "older" version before the 2012 update (I can tell by the alloy cross-over pipe), One way to check is the gearbox - if you have the 6 speed ZF6HP28 it is the old version, if you have the 8 speed ZF8HP70 it is the new version. For the first year of the "facelift" XFR (from 2012) Jag stuck with the 6 speed box and the Denso ECU and it wasn't until 2013 they gave it the 8 speed box and Bosch ECU (and the crappy plastic coolant pipes!). It is important to know which ECU and gearbox you have when it comes to tuning etc.

@OzXFR thank you. Yep... I ordered the updated metal crossover pipes that don't fit on this engine. No big deal they were not that expensive. I am hoping the other metal cooling parts I ordered fit. I should get the car back at the end of next week. Then I will do the Bosch pump upgrade, add the wheel spacers, carbon fiber bits, and tune. I am sure Alex at Alpha will know tuning the older Denso I told him what year my car was.

They should fit as the style you have are obsolete? Since your engine is out don't forget the rear water manifold either. Easy to change now and not too expensive.
I would go ahead and replace both Aluminum pipes with the updated versions anyway so I don't think you wasted your money.

Hate to hear you had to replace the engine!
Can you post what the cost was? Did your mechanic open the old engine to see what went wrong?
