Default 2013 XF 3.0 V6 RWD, engine blew up. Need ideas.

Had an unfortunate incident where my poor XF had a coolant leak and went from warning to catastrophe in the space of three minutes.

The engine block has a 2" hole in it. What I've done is taken the engine out.

The easy thing to do would be to buy a used 340HP engine and stick it in there as I love the car more than anything else in the world.

I am tempted by the following opportunities:

1) Used F-Type 340HP engine; It's the same engine but is tuned to better
2) F-Type engine AND manual tranny combo. ; Don't know if this is even possible but I'd jump at the possibility
3) Go for the V8 5.0L. the Jag came with it anyway with the same gearbox so it should fit.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy to consider these options or should I just go the safe way?

I think you'd find a like for like replacement the easiest route , the F-Type engine is indeed the same for the most part but you'd have issues with the ECU and a few other things. You'd need a bargeload of money and time to do the manual idea. The there's the fact that you can just buy a replacement XF for cheap, and that's going to be cheaper as time goes on.The current situation will lead to an awful lot of very nice cars for sale for not so much cash very soon. I know how you feel about the car.....I adore mine too!
Good luck!

Options 2 and 3 are not possible without spending huge amounts of money, far more than it would cost to simply buy another XF.
Option 1 may be possible but why pay extra for an F-Type engine when the base 340 PS tune version is identical to the XF engine anyway.
Your best bet is to get a used/reconditioned engine out of an XF.

I agree with OzXFR.

The F-type engine will not give you any ECU issues and the although the tune is different, to get the higher HP with any engine you will need a tune so get whatever is hceapest and you will be golden,
