Default 2013 XF 3.0L Petrol ENGINE TEMPERATURE HIGH

Good morning!

I have recently experienced an issue on my 2013 XF 3.0L petrol that I wanted to share with you experts to see if you can help. A while back the 'engine temperature high' message came up and the AC was automatically switched off. Initially I thought it could be a coolant leak and had all the hoses checked and 2 replaced. The issue remained and despite the fact that coolant level was maintained, the error still came up. I took it to the garage again and they informed me that the cooling fan is not working and advised me to replace it. I managed to source a reasonably priced fan and motor and had it installed. The issue came back again after a couple of days and now the garage is saying to replace the fan Engine Control Unit (ECU) since this module controls the fan operation. Before buying this part, I want to know if others experienced similar issue and whether the troubleshooting advise seems correct as I dont want to needlessly waste money if the issue is not concerning the ECU. Any other recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Layth
