I replaced a thermostat last week am today the engine temp high indication showed up. Any suggestions

Water pump? Fan relay or fan? Low coolant/sensor broken? ECU error? SC or NA car? I think a little more explanation of how and why the error occurs would be useful, it could be a bunch of things.....
